Derma Roller: A Complete Guide to Micro-needling At Home
It may seem odd to put hundreds of small needles into your face to be relaxing, but it is. Micro-needling has a lot of benefits. It helps to reduce wrinkles and stretch marks, skin discoloration, facial rejuvenation, enhanced product absorption & many more.
If you’re looking for a way to tackle these concerns at home, micro-needling could be the solution.
What is Derma Roller, And How Does It Work?
Derma Roller is a small, handled device used for micro-needling. This process includes puncturing the skin with tiny needles, causing micro-injuries to the skin surface. Your skin produces protein and collagen deposited in the injured area. The protein increases the elasticity and firmness of your skin.
Since you make hundreds of slight injuries in one area at a time, it deposits a considerable amount of collagen. So, derma rolling helps in skin rejuvenation. It is also an effective way for your skincare products to absorb better.
Derma roller from Lely’s can do wonders for your skin.
Is Derma Rolling At Home Safe?
Many of us have doubts about the reliability of micro-needling. The process of micro-needling on your skin can be frightening. These injuries are only on the outer part of the skin, and they do not damage your skin. The size of needles is one mm or less, but they can only use them for the face. It is advisable that needles with over one mm can be used for areas like thighs and hips.
If you follow all the instructions step by step, then it is safe to use Derma Roller at home. It is also advisable to avoid micro-needling in areas with acne/eczema or irritated places with sunburn.
Why Should You Use Derma Rollers?
REDUCES WRINKLES
Puncturing the skin helps to stimulate collagen production, and that is why it will help to fine-line the wrinkles. You can use this for wrinkles anywhere on the face, even on the wrinkles around the eyes. It will not create any side effects.
REDUCES SCARS AND STRETCH MARKS
Stretch marks and scars can be embarrassing sometimes. Regularly using Derma Roller can help reduce the scars. Eventually, the collagen will repair the scar tissues. It can also reduce the stretch marks around body parts like legs and thighs.
REDUCES ACNE SPOTS AND APPEARANCE
Derma rolling gives impressive results for acne spots and for making the skin look smooth.
You can use micro-needling at home for so many skin issues like large pores, sagging skin, etc.
HYPERPIGMENTATION
Some areas of the face become dark because of melasma, sunspots, or breakouts. Derma Roller can help in getting rid of it. Especially when paired with Hyalu Boost serum and Skin Lightening Serum from Lely’s, the treatment is very effective.
DERMA ROLLER FOR HAIR REGROWTH
Derma roller is effective in hair regrowth too. The recommended size for hair growth is 0.3mm and 0.5mm. These sizes work best for hair regrowth.
POCKET FRIENDLY
You are free from taking costly appointments with the dermatologist because you can use the derma roller at home with no complications. The Derma roller from Lely’s is pocket friendly.
HELPS WITH YOUR SKINCARE ABSORPTION
Micro-needling to the face means puncturing the skin with small needles, and that is the most way for any product to get absorbed more effectively.
BUYING a DERMA ROLLER
Before purchasing the Derma roller, look at the following tips:
1- NEEDLE TYPE
Derma Roller has sharp and thin needles because these needles are going to be used in sensitive areas like the face. Blunt or thick needles can cause injuries to the skin.
The needles are supposed to stay rust-free, too. For this reason, they use titanium needles in our Derma Rollers. Derma Roller from Lely’s is ultra-sharp, strong and resistant to rust.
2- HANDLE
We can consider handling the major portion of this device. The handle should provide you with a good grip so that it does not slip and hurt you while in use.
HOW to Micro-needle at HOME SAFELY?
Here is what you need to do every time you are using the derma roller at home.
STEP 1 – DISINFECT YOUR ROLLER
Soak it in 70% of isopropyl alcohol for up to 10 minutes. This will kill all the bacteria and germs on the needles.
STEP 2- CLEAN YOUR SKIN
Clean your skin by washing it with a gentle face wash as per your skin type. This helps get rid of oil and dirt.
STEP 3- APPLY SERUM
Applying any of the serums as per your choice is required before using the derma roller so that the applied serum goes more profound than usual and gets absorbed better.
STEP 4- START ROLLING
Gently roll the device up and down over one area. After this, roll it horizontally in the same area. The blade should roll naturally and smoothly on your skin. Overdoing is not good. Ten rounds in one direction are enough.
STEP 5- WASH YOUR FACE
If it bleeds, then, in such a scenario, wash your face with water and apply the hydrating serums to wrap up the process.
STEP 6- CLEAN AND STORE THE ROLLER
Wash your roller with soap and water to rinse away any blood or skin product on it. For sterilization, put it in alcohol and then store it away safely.
What Products Should I Use?
It is required to use topical serums or solutions with a Derma Roller to get the best results. This will increase the absorption of skincare products. It is advisable to use the right & gentle products on your skin.
We have listed some of the good serums to use with our Lely’s Derma Roller.
A- HYALU BOOST SERUM FROM LELY’S
It is a pretty good idea to use hydrating serums before doing the process at home. Our experts recommend hyaluronic acid in particular because it is good for hydrating the skin.
B- SOOTHING SERUMS
It is common for most people to experience redness after derma rolling. Using soothing serums can prevent redness on the skin or other after-effects after the treatment.
C- ANTI-AGING SERUM FROM LELY’S
This type of serum involves proteins that help plump up the skin. They play a key role in making your skin elastic and softer. It is a pretty good idea to apply these before derma rolling to reduce wrinkles and fine lines. Under-eye serums can also be used while micro-needling the area around the eyes.
D- VITAMIN C SERUM FROM LELY’S
You should avoid vitamin C during derma rolling if you have sensitive skin. However, if you are having a problem with hyperpigmentation, you can use it to maximize absorption.
WHAT SHOULD YOU AVOID?
If your skin is sensitive, then you should avoid serums with strong or harsh chemicals and acids with fragrances. Apart from these, try to avoid retinol. Also, avoid using serums with AHAs and BHAs after treatment, as this can also severely irritate the skin.
What Are the Results and Side Effects?
The very first after-effects of the treatment include redness and a bit of pain. Bleeding is also possible but should be very minimal. Swelling, intense pain and bruising are the signs. This might result from overdoing it or choosing the wrong size of needles.
